A HEADTEACHER has told how upset schoolchildren were after thieves stole lead flashing worth about £6,000.
Sue Little, of Low Furness Church of England Primary School in Great Urswick, said children’s play equipment and a bird table made by a pupil’s grandfather had been broken in the incident, which took place over the weekend.
Until repairs are carried out, the school is in danger of letting water in because of the missing flashing.
“It’s shocking,” she said. “The children were really upset.
"The thieves broke into the shed and used the children’s wheelbarrow to transport the lead, so that is broken.
"It’s the little things like that that are most upsetting."
