THE constituency of Richmond, which embraces Hawes, was won by former Conservative Party leader William Hague for the sixth time in 21 years.
Mr Hague celebrated a 23,336 majority making the seat one of the safest Tory strongholds in the country.
Over 50,000 people turned out to vote with 10,205 voting for Liberal Democrat candidate Lawrence Meredith and 8,150 of the electorate voting for Labour’s Eileen Driver.
