Agricultural issues were under debate at a large National Farmers' Union husting meeting held in the Westmorland and Lonsdale consistency.
Over 100 people attended the event at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, to hear the local prospective parliamentary candidates talk about their plans for the industry.
Among the subjects under discussion were the possibility of cuts in funding to rural areas and the rules surrounding supermarket’s business relationship with farmers.
The National Farmers’ Union sponsored the event on April 28.
Its regional director for the North West, Robert Sheasby, started the afternoon with a speech followed by Tim Farron, Gareth McKeever, John Mander and Jonathan Todd’s ‘Question Time’ styled debate.
