WEMBLEY-bound footballers have been exercising their vocal chords to help raise money for a South Lakeland charity.
Barrow AFC play Stevenage Borough in the FA Trophy Final on May 8, and to mark the occasion they will release their own single ‘All Together Now for Barrow AFC’ on Saturday (May 1), with all profits going to St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston.
The song, recorded by the squad at The Bay’s radio studios, is their own version of The Farm’s hit single, re-written by the station’s sports editor Dave Salmon.
Zoe Guest, funding and operations manager at the hospice, which cares for people with terminal illnesses, said: “The help we receive from the local community is very special and we are extremely grateful to Barrow AFC and The Bay for donating the profits from the sale to out charity.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish the boys the best of luck and thank them for all their support throughout the year.”
Barrow manager Dave Bayliss said: “It’s a real boost to the boys to know that there are so many fans behind them, and it’s great to be raising funds for St Mary’s Hospice at the same time.”
The CD, priced £4.99, will be available from various outlets including St Mary’s Hospice shops in Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness, New Market Street, Ulverston, and 84 Dalton Road, Barrow. It will also be sold online at www.thebay.co.uk
