A MAJOR family fun day takes place at an award-winning Lake District pub next month – with plans to set a unique world record.
The Pirate Charity Day at The Watermill Inn at Ings, near Staveley, on Saturday, May 15, aims to raise cash for theSouth Lake-land Alzheimer’s Association.
Organisers Brian and Alison Coulthwaite hope to see a new world record set in ‘Collie Wobble Throwing’ – the trick of balancing on a wobbly platform and throwing a weighted sack or ‘collie’.
The person who achieves the longest throw wins and it is hoped to have a Guinness Book of Records representative there to record the feat.
The Watermill Inn is famed for its real-ale and brews its own called Collie Wobbles.
People are being encouraged to dress up as pirates for the day and there will be a range of entertainments to watch or join in with between noon and 6pm on farmland next to pub just off the A591 road at Ings.
