LIBERAL Democrat figurehead Baroness Shirley Williams has thrown her support behind candidate Tim Farron, who she called a man of a ‘hundred causes’.

During a visit to Kendal on Friday, the veteran politician said: “He is doing a spectacular job here.

"He is in such high demand in Whitehall as he has an impressive combination of being both humorous and serious.

“I think he must carry out something like 100 causes a week, an incredible number.

“Tim just does such a wonderful job and everyone can see that.

“Before he got in people might not have believed the Liberal Democrats could do it, but hopefully now they can see we can and do win.”
