NEW polling stations will be used in parts of Ulverston, Broughton, Levens and Burton and Holme as some of the traditional polling places are unavailable for this year’s elections.
The local and Parliamentary elections are being held on Thursday, May 6.
In Ulverston East ward, Dale Street Infant School and St Jude’s New Church will be replaced by a polling station at Hicksies Café on North Lonsdale Terrace.
At Broughton, where Grizebeck village hall is due to be demolished, the new station will be at Grizebeck Filling Station, until the new hall is completed.
In Levens, where the Helsington and Brigsteer village hall has been demolished to make way for a new hall, polling will take place at St. John’s Church, Helsington.
And in Burton and Holme ward, the Plough Inn at Lupton is currently being refurbished, so the polling station will be in the New Village Hall, Hutton Roof, as last year.
It is hoped the original village halls in Grizebeck and Brigsteer and the venue in Lupton will be available again in future years.
