A CHAPEL in a Lake District hotel has closed its doors and been stripped of religious features, ready for its transformation into a modern day conference room.
The religious aspect of the Damson Dene Hotel, Crosthwaite, came to an end when the last couple to be wed at its Lakeland Chapel walked away under a shower of confetti on September 3.
Work on the chapel started as part of a two year £250,000 refurbishment scheme on the hotel, which was owned by Methodist Holiday Hotels until taken over by Newby Bridge-based Lakeside Inns Ltd three months ago.
