THIS year's £1,000 Keldwyth Award was won by Cockermouth's Karina Blackman in the final held at Levens Hall.
Keldwyth secretary Sylvia Trohear said the 21-year-old electronic organist captivated the sell-out audience playing pieces such as her own arrangement of the prelude to Carmen; New York, New York; and Lennon and McCartney's Norwegian Wood.
The runners-up, who each landed £200, were soprano Sally Johnson (Penrith); oboist Alexia Pelling, from Clapham; and classical guitarist from Carlisle, Matthew Whitaker.
