CHEESEY GRIN: Westmorland Gazette shop customers will recognise the new face behind the counter of The Cheese Larder, in Kendal's indoor market.
Former receptionist Christine Burton has decided to branch out into the cheese business.
"I've always been interested in cheese and when the opportunity arose to buy The Cheese Larder it was something I just couldn't turn down."
Kendal born and bred, Christine has bags of experience in the retail industry but this is the first time she's been her own boss.
"I'm looking forward to building on what's here," said Christine, who will be celebrating the British Cheese Festival (September 25 to October 8) and will be promoting the award-winning cheeses which are expected to be announced during the week.
l The Cheese Larder's previous owners, Barry and Christine Carr of Carrs of Finkle Street, have relocated their cooked meat outlet and sandwich bar a few doors away in what used to be JJs cafe-bar.
The former shop is to be converted to provide a street-frontage extension for Casanovas restaurant upstairs.
The work should be completed in time for the festive season.
