FOURTEEN-year-old Mark Wilson from Kendal Judo Club has returned from the Heart of England Tournament for under 16-year-olds with a silver medal.
Mark triumphed at U66 kilo level, winning twice at Ippon and only subdued by the national champion in the final.
This event in Birmingham's National Indoor Arena is second only to the national championships.
Bethany Hoggarth, also 14, fought at U63 kilo and although injured, battled her way through the repecharge to be rewarded with bronze.
Fifth places went to Jamie Millar (U60 kilo) and Steven Rogan (U55 kilo), bogh giving their best in fiercely competitive categories.
Philip Rogan was in stunning form in the U60 kilo category, competing in a senior ranking event.
He produced three Ippon wins before losing to Ben Norton, ranked number two in the national squad, and having to settle for fifth place.
