FIRE fighters and farmers used slings and ropes to rescue a horse which had vaulted a stone wall and got stuck in a steep-sided river at Hall Bank, Sedbergh, on Monday night.
The owners and neighbouring farmers had attempted unsuccessfully to get the animal out of the river and called on the assistance of fire fighters from Sedbergh and Kendal.
