PLANS to light up the attractive bridges which span the River Kent are moving forward, with Kendal Town Council hoping that Miller Bridge will be illuminated before the end of the year.
The Nether Bridge floodlights were switched on earlier this month, made possible by a £2,000 donation from K Village.
It is hoped that a dramatic lighting project will eventually illuminate Stramongate Bridge and the adjoining weir.
Kendal Town Council and Kendal Civic Society agreed in principle last year on a bridge-lighting scheme.
Since then, the town council has done consultation and project management work, and has paid for some of the equipment and installation.
