HISTORY was recreated by South Lakeland teenagers to mark the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Windermere Air Cadets set the scene by building an operations room complete with a 1940s telephone and head set to get a taste of their grandparents' experience.
At the plotting table, cadets marked the approaching bombers.
An air raid siren wailed.
Cadets donned steel helmets, and cadet flight sergeant Duncan Bromley recited one of Winston Churchill's speeches.
Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Martin White said: "It is important that today's youngsters learn about the sacrifices made by their grandparents' generation when they themselves were just teenagers.
By recreating some living history the message is more meaningful."
More than £400 was also raised by 1264 Windermere Squadron cadets for the Royal Air Forces' Association Wings Appeal for 2000.
The cadets are actively looking for new recruits for the Air Training Corps this month, and a wide range of activities, including flying and gliding in RAF aircraft, are on offer to adventure-seekers aged 13 to 17.
