HOPES of moving into the relative safety of mid-table were dashed for Kendal Town by Saturday's visit to Lincoln United.
Town's defence had stood firm until the very last minute when Lincoln's Williams struck to give his side a 1-0 win.
The result leaves Kendal fifth from bottom of the UniBond First Division table, with seven points from nine games, but they have a chance to redeem the situation tomorrow night (Tuesday) when a win over mid-table Chorley could boost them several places up the league.
