THE Kendal Mountain Film Festival looks set to be a major event in the town for the next ten years.
The second festival is to take place from December 1-3, following last year's inaugural event, Kendal Town Council was told.
Town clerk Hugh McClorry received a letter from the festival organisers, confirming future festival dates for the coming decade.
"It sounds very good news," he said.
Coun John Studholme said the festival helped to give Kendal "a good image", and the event was "a labour of love" for those involved.
Coun Jean Ewing said last year's event brought a lot of publicity and financial benefits to the town.
Councillors agreed to ask for a copy of the festival's accounts before deciding whether to give a grant.
Sponsors include Sony, Climber magazine, Northern Arts and South Lakeland District Council.
