VIRGIN Trains has lifted its threat to sue Railtrack over delays to West Coast Main Line services.
The train operator had issued a warning that it would take action unless Railtrack dealt with delays caused by modernisation work on the London-Glasgow main line, which passes through Cumbria.
But Railtrack successfully commissioned work at Euston station, in London, on Sunday, allowing Virgin to run its full winter timetable of train services.
Virgin said its threat of legal action had prompted Railtrack to draw up a 44-point action plan to prevent similar delays occurring on the main line in future.
However, the company warned it would not hesitate to take action again if Railtrack failed to learn lessons from the dispute.
Long-suffering passengers have faced disruption to services for several weeks.
In one case, a train was delayed for three hours after a cable was severed during work at Euston.
