CORINTHIANS knew what to expect for their tough away game against high-flying Lancs Constabularly at Hutton Hall on Saturday as weeks earlier they were on the end of a 4-0 drubbing by the same side.
The Milnthorpe side had the better of the early exchanges, forcing most of the play in the Lancs half and their rewarded came midway through the first period when Dave Shaw's deep corner was headed back into a melee of players and Lee Blamire reacted quickest to slot home from close range.
Lancs grew stronger as the game progressed but a wormanlike performance kept them at bay.
Midway through the second half the Lancs pressure paid off when Corinthians defence failed to clear and a Lancs player slipped in and squared the ball across from a team-mate to score from a yard out.
As Lancs started to tire in the later stages, it was Corinthians who should have wrapped the game up with a chance falling to Craig Walmsley, who raced away from the Lancs back line but could only shoot at the keeper in a one-on-one situation.
Brian Fleming forced the Lancs keeper into an excellent save from a header and he hit the woodwork only for Chris Hayton to put the follow-up into the side-netting as the team finished at 1-1.
Corinthians Seconds played at Burnley Belvedere and was losing 2-0 at half time before Chris Woodruff scored from the penalty spot.
Burnley made it 3-1 but Gary Isles netted twice to level the scores and Steve Saints grabbed a fourth for a 4-3 win.
