A KENDAL man is to be honoured for his dedicated and exceptional service with the Order of St John at a special ceremony in London.
Paramedic Colin Daws, 45, of Captain French Lane, who has been a St John Ambulance volunteer for 34 years, is to be invested as a member of the Order on Friday, September 29, at the Grand Priorty Church, Clerkenwell, London.
He will be admitted as an officer and presented with the Insignia by the Prior of the Order of St John, Lord Slynn of Hadley.
Each award has been approved by Her Majesty The Queen, Sovereign Head of the Order.
Around 100 people of all nationalities and walks of life will be invested, having adopted the St John motto: 'In the Service of Mankind.'
Mr Daws, who is superintendent of the Kendal division of the Order of St John, said modestly: "It's quite an honour.
I've been in the organisation for a very long time."
