A SET of Victorian shire-horse lawn-mowing shoes, originally from South Lakeland, fetched £1,057 when they were auctioned by Christie's in Oxfordshire this week.
The shoes, originally owned by the Hornyold-Strickland family of Sizergh Castle, were among the 800 possessions auctioned off at antique dealer Christopher Gibbs' Oxfordshire retreat.
Mr Gibbs, who supplied Mick Jagger's home, is renowned in interior design circles for creating the 'spare country house' look.
