SOUTH Lakeland District Council staff are the first people from Ulverston to sign up for Make a Difference Day with the Woolwich (MADD).
Organised by national charity CSV, MADD with the Woolwich takes place on Saturday, October 28, and will be the UK's single biggest day of volunteering, with tens of thousands of people from across the country taking part.
SLDC staff will be joining other members of the public for a canal tidy up.
They plan to clean the Gill Bank area and plant spring bulbs.
The public can call free on 0800 284 533 to set up an activity, or visit www.csv.org.uk, and the MADD team will help with ideas and send out a free registration pack.
If anyone wants to volunteer on an existing activity, the MADD team will match them with an activity in the local area.
