A 20MPH speed limit and traffic-calming features might be introduced in the Queen's Road area of Kendal.
Cumbria County Council's highways department has advertised the 20mph limit for High Tenterfell, Low Fellside, Middle Lane, Queen's Road, Sepulchre Lane, Serpentine Road and Undercliff Road.
Residents views on this and possible introduction of speed humps and other features will also be considered at the next meeting of Cumbria County Council's South Lakes Area committee at the end of October.
The highways department is also looking at a series of proposals for Low Fellside, including closing it to through traffic to stop motorists using the route as a rat run.
Consultations on whether to install a barrier across the road past the entrance to The Westmorland Gazette car park and before the junction with Middle Lane were completed earlier this year.
The next step could be a three-month trial.
