ORIENTEERS had a choice of events this weekend although the travelling
distance meant relatively few from the South Lakes area attended.
A two-day event, the October Odyssey, was held at Kyloe in Northumberland.
A large party from Ulverston Victoria School took part with class wins over
the two days for Rosie Brocklebank (W14A), Sadie Burrow (W16A), Andrew Spain
(M12B), Will Spain (M14A), Jack Stainton (M16B), Robert Procter (M16A) and
teacher Clare Evans (W40S).
A number of other pupils were in the top three on their classes.
Other local class winners were Gill Browne (W45S), Vicky
Brocklebank (W20L) and Maurice Collett (M75L).
On Sunday an event also took place at Naden Valley near Rochdale.
Local class winners there were Bob Stewardson (M70L) and Charles Daly (M75L).
Mark Saunders (2nd, M18A), Beryl Offley (2nd, W21L) and Nicola Robertson
(3rd, W16A) were also well placed.
A badge event will be held at Lingmoor on Sunday 8th October with limited
entry on the day (01229-582852 for details) and the next Cumbria Galoppen
event with the full range of colour-coded courses will be in Miterdale on
15th October (01434 688223 for details).
