Kendal Town 1, Winsford United 2.

LAST minute winners are becoming a bit of a speciality at Kendal Town, but unfortunately they usually come from the opposition.

It happened again at Parkside on Saturday when six minutes into injury time former Manchester City and Everton player Kevin Langley scored from 22 yards to snatch all three points for Winsford.

Kendal contributed largely to their own downfall, however, with a poor second half performance and, until they can maintain a consistent level of disciplined football they will struggle to make any sort of impression in the league, as they will encounter much stiffer opposition than Winsford.

Once again Kendal began the game with promise, new recruit from Andy Heald, on loan from Morecambe, coming straight into the starting eleven and bringing to the wide left some balance which has been lacking all season.

Early pressure by the home side saw Reynolds try his luck with a long range shot, but it went straight at Conkie in the Winsford goal.

The visitors had an early chance when Bermingham received the ball direct from a goal-kick and crossed for Shaunessy, but he headed wide.

After 10 minutes a well-struck free-kick from Danny Kent went just wide, with the keeper beaten, but Kendal broke the deadlock seven minutes later through Phil Brown.

He lifted the ball over the advancing keeper following good work by Heald and Dann.

Moments later Howard headed wide from a Heald corner.

A superb crossfield ball by the reliable Darren Brown sent Kent away on the right and his centre was met by Phil Brown, but his diving header was narrowly wide of the upright.

Winsford rallied and Clowes missed a golden opportunity, shooting wide from close-range, but he made amends almost immediately by turning provider and sending Bermingham away on the left.

He cut inside and shot wide of Price to level the score.

Two minutes later Bermingham almost struck again, following a mix-up between Darley and Burrows, but he was denied by Price with good handling at the foot of his post.

Winsford made the better start of the second half, with Worthington failing to capitalise on a back pass.

Then Lowe broke free and, with the Kendal defence stretched, opted to shoot instead of slipping a pass to Clowes who was unmarked and with the goal at his mercy.

Price got his hand to the shot and Darley cleared the danger.

In the 53rd minute the determined Heald showed good strength on the ball riding two tackles before unleashing a powerful shot which went over the bar.

Foster, who had replaced Dann, slipped clear of the defence in then 63rd minute, but was thwarted by the hand of the keeper as he tried to round him.

Retrieving possession, Foster crossed, but the ball was cleared for a corner.

Despite Kendal's chances it was a very much disjointed second-half performance as they failed to sustain their early authority and Winsford's winner was just about deserved, although the referee appeared to play rather more injury time than was warranted.
