NEXT Tuesday is World Mental Health Day and is being marked in South Cumbria by the creation of a new website.
Aided by the Westmorland Gazette, support organisation Making Space Employment Link tells how it helps local people with mental health problems into work, education and training.
Created in April, the Employment Link group serves the whole of South Cumbria and has been backed by Minister for Health, Furness MP John Hutton.
One in ten suffer from a mental health problem, according to the World Federation for Mental Health.
In six months the service has been overwhelmed by the response, according to development worker Beren Aldridge.
Around 90 people have been assisted in a range of opportunities from A-level and computing courses to working at Boots Chemists.
Mr Aldridge said he was thrilled to be taking advantage of community developments on the internet spearheaded by the Westmorland Gazette.
The website can be found on the Gazette's own thisisthelakedistrict.
