A CUMBRIAN auction mart reported an extremely busy six days last week with a £3.25 million turnover of cattle and sheep.
With three special store sales, including the regular weekly sales, 5,200 head of cattle changed hands at the Borderway Mart, Carlisle, between September 18-23.
Highlight of the week was the annual September two-day sale of suckled calves with more then 2,400 calves sold.
Over the two days, 1,164 steers and 1,240 heifers were sold with averages similar to last year at £503 for bullocks and £401 for heifers.
Massive sheep entries during the week included a record number of Lleyns with eight lots making 1,000gns.
