A FIRST ever win at Burnley maintained Kendal's excellent run of results in the North Lancs Water Polo League.
In a physical encounter Kendal matched the home team's aggression and determination with skill and speed to emerge 7-6 winners from a game littered with controversial refereeing decisions.
After an even first quarter the second period produced several confrontations which later threatened to erupt.
Goals by Peter Hetherington and Darren Gibson kept Kendal in touch, but they trailed 3-2 at half-time.
Dominating the third quarter Kendal opened up a 5-3 lead with two goals by Myles Little and one from David Mackereth.
Strong defending and fine saves by Richard Foster keeping Burnley out.
With the game threatening to boil over Burnley were awarded a controversial goal as they fought back, but further strikes by Gibson and Little eased things, but Kendal still conceded two and a last minute save by Foster was needed to deny Burnley a share of the points.
