A TEENAGER whose drink and drug fuelled jealousy that led him to stab a man was today found guilty of murder.
Brian MacDonald, who was 19 at the time of the murder, had pleaded not guilty at Preston Crown Court to killing 28-year-old Paul Hayward at the house on Lound Road in Kendal where both men had lived on January 3 this year.
MacDonald claimed that he could remember nothing of the incident, but the jury heard that witnesses had seen the two men fighting moments before Mr Hayward collapsed and died of a stab wound to the heart.
The jury of eight men and four women took just two hours to return a unanimous guilty verdict.
The Honourable Mr Justice Douglas Brown said the only sentence he could hand down in a case of murder was one of life imprisonment.
