FOLLOWING months of sleepy silence from local Mod band Sound, the four fellas are staging a come-back.
Fresh from far flung corners of the north, the group have been getting their act together and frontman Kevin Kendal of Sedbergh says they are revved up and raring to go in their old stomping ground - Kendal's pub circuit.
"We have been rehearsing a lot, but since last year when we played a regular slot at The Kent Tavern in Kendal, we've not been up to much.
But now we've got a couple of gigs lined up we are just aching to get out there."
The band have been together for a number of years.
Although they have been a five man outfit at times, working through a number of guitarists, they are now back to square one.
"There's just the four of us again now, and it seems to be working," said Kevin.
"Me and Ade (Head) who plays drums grew up together and we met our guitarist Col (Thompson) at school.
Mike (Hunter) who plays bass is my brother-in-law so we all know pretty much what one another is going to do next.
As a band we have got a good chemistry going."
Kevin is no stranger to an audience, as the auctioneer at Kendal Auction Mart he is used to performing to a crowd, although he saves his less conventional antics for his gigs.
Back in 1997, Sound wowed the crowds at Kendal Town Hall with their high energy performance, which included jumping off stacks and smashing a mike stand.
Although the band are all in their late twenties and early thirties, Sound promise that nothing has changed but the age of their audience.
Kevin said: "When we did the gigs at the town hall the audience were mainly 14 to 17-year-olds, now those people will probably be on the Kendal pub scene and, hopefully, they will hear us play at one of our pub gigs.
"Our sound is Mod-based but it appeals to more than just 'scooters'.
We do covers of bands like The Jam, Paul Wellar and Ocean Colour Scene.
The four of us have been to see The Who four times.
We usually put about three or four of our own songs into the set.
Sometimes people don't even notice that they aren't covers."
Kevin, who loves performing live for the "adrenaline buzz," said the band's key quality is "pure Mod energy."
"We may not be the most talented band in the world but we aren't the sort to just stand there and play, we give it all we've got," he said.
Sound will play at The George and Dragon, Kendal, on January 19 and a further Kendal gig at Dickie Doodles, is also on the cards .
