WHEN the last party popper has popped and the fizz of New Year is fast becoming a distant memory, what else to do than sit back and take it easy with the mellow sounds of The Illegal Eagles.

Performing at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Wednesday, January 10, the "Illegals" as they are known by those who are in the know, are set to muster up the heat of the desert and the heady combination of blue demim and tanned skin for one night only.

With tightly rehearsed sets and harmonised vocals, the sound is so reminiscent of the original Eagles, you only have to close your eyes to believe this bootleg five-piece band could be the real thing.

Featuring The Eagles' unforgettable accoustic hits such as Hotel California and Take It Easy, to lavish electric rock renditions of Heartache and Get Over It, the group takes the audience on a nostalgic stroll through the peaks of The Eagles' career.

The tribute band was born in 1996 when drummer and keyboard player Phil Aldridge was inspired by one of the Eagles last ever concert performances.

Californian Jeff Green, who had been head-hunted by Phil when he arrived in the UK 12 years ago, took up lead guitar.

Ray Brown, who is reputed to have the best Don Henley-like voice you have ever heard was recruited for lead and acoustic guitars as well as on lead vocals.

Sought after Bass guitarist Glenn Sissons and Keith More, a guitarists who has appeared alongside artists as diverse as Lenny Kravitz, Dexy's Midnight Runners and Tina Turner, completed the line-up.

Certainly not the first Tequila Sunrise Blackpool has ever known, but it could be one of the best.

Tickets are priced at £13 and concessions are available.
