PLANNERS refused permission for a redundant storage building on land opposite Steel Street, Ulverston, to be converted into a single dwelling.
South Lakeland District Council's development control sub-committee decided it was inappropriate to allow a house to be built in a site currently used for employment, particularly in an area which was prone to flooding.
At the same meeting, the committee approved plans for a former stable and coach house building at Next Ness, Ulverston, to be converted into a house, after hearing that a survey showed that the building was structurally sound.
