POLICE officers can keep in touch over the web following the launch of a virtual private network by Barrow-based Internet firm eDirectory.co.uk.
The service, called UKcop.net, features a bulletin board, chat room and shopping service.
Managing director Dominic Allonby said the venture would create a new channel of communication for the country's 150,000 serving police officers.
The firm has also acquired technical documentation specialist Sahlin Technical Services for an undisclosed sum.
