WINDERMERE and Bowness Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society weaves a little bit of magic in Sleeping Beauty, a traditional pantomime mixed with contemporary music running from Wednesday, January 17, until Saturday, January 20, at The Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge.
Included in the fun-packed line-up are Gormless, son of Olga Pong, Sleeping Beauty and her father King Rumbletum, ghouls and goblins, three good fairies, a magic panda and, of course, Prince Handsome.
Performances for the four-night run start at 7.30pm, plus a Saturday 2.30pm matinee.

THE powerful tale of an exceptional woman is told at the Brewery Arts Centre on Friday, January 19 (8pm), in Eleanor of Aquitaine: Mother of the Pride, a historical drama starring Eileen Page.
The Catherine Muschamp play landed a five star rating at the 1999 Edinburgh Festival and has been given rave reviews across the country ever since.
The following week (Friday, January 26, 8pm) the Kendal arts centre welcomes three Norwegian sopranos, Trio Mediaeval, propelling medieval vocal music into the 21st century.

THE Amabile Girls' Choir is warming up for its Gala Concert tomorrow night (Saturday, 7.30pm) in Staveley Village Hall.
The event is a fund-raiser towards setting up a new training choir, a possible trip in 2002 to the United States and platforming for concert performances.
