A NEW Christmas tree recycling project in Ulverston has been given a pat on the back by town councillors who praised the scheme.
The joint initiative between South Lakeland District Council, who provided a shredder, The Ford House Committee and the British Trust for Volunteers was part of the Community Composting Initiative run by Ford House Committee.
Groups of people with learning disabilities from Furness and Cartmel Day Services and Cumbria Care, based at the Old Library in Ulverston, have helped to publicise the initiative.
Coun Bob Boulton said the project was going well but warned members of the public to ensure they left their tree in the correct place and asked drivers to show consideration towards the grounds.
Similar recycling projects will also be available until Friday, January 19 at the following sites:
Ambleside: Rothay Holme Civic Amenity Site - open Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am-4pm.
