Friday night three hugely talented wind players stage what should be a concert to remember.

The Scottish Flute Trio take to the stage of Windermere's St Anne's School (8pm) having broadcast on radio, performed to great acclaim both north and south of the border, and recently released its debut five-star rated cd Feasibility Studies, on Metier.

To broaden its repertoire and extend both its range and variety of music, the trio has commissioned several pieces since its inception in 1994.

And from what I've heard on the grapevine the threesome of Laura Bailie, Janet Larsson and Ruth Morley are well-worth seeing.

As well as work by Telemann and Debussy, the programme will include St Kilda's Parliament, a work written by Kenneth Dempster, inspired by a Douglas Dunn poem of the same name and a George Washinghton Wilson photograph of St Kilda's from 1885.

The trio will be joined by guitarist Allan Neave.

The recital in the Crampton Hall is part of the Windermere Flute Festival which continues at the school tomorrow (Saturday) with masterclasses, ensemble playing, jazz workshops, coaching and more.

Tickets for the Scottish Flute Trio are £5 adults/ children £2, on 015394-46164.
