A NEW name has been suggested for Oxenholme - the Lake District railway station.
Kendal Tourism Group thinks that changing the station's name to Kendal - the Lake District would be "an excellent way to raise the profile of the town and to enhance public perception of Kendal as a destination", according to a report due to be considered by South Lakeland district councillors this Friday (January 19).
The economic development committee looks set to support the idea, which would require permission from rail authorities.
Kendal Tourism Group proposes that Kendal station would be renamed Kendal Central or Kendal Town to avoid confusion.
