KENDAL'S chances of playing their home match with Camberley in National Division 2 on Saturday were rated "very, very doubtful" by Kendal secretary Roger Wilson.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Wilson said the Mint Bridge ground was frostbound after a week of freezing temperatures and, having been played upon at the weekend, the pitch was bone hard and rutted.

"There are no signs of the frost moving out of the ground - it's hardly taking the white off the top during the day and the weather forecast suggests there will be not let-up until Sunday," he said.

Camberley, whom Kendal beat 15-13 away in October, were planning to set off at 6pm on Friday evening with an overnight stop.

A ground inspection would be made early on Friday afternoon to let them know in good time if the game could go ahead.

Kendal make one change from the side which faced Fylde, with Richard Harryman preferred in the starting line-up in the second row to Keith Robinson, who takes a turn on the replacements' bench alongside Mark Bowman and Adrian Myers.

The match, sponsored by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, kicks off at 2.15pm.
