A PROJECT designed to support small tourism businesses in a north Lancashire seaside resort is up and running.
Morecambe Bay Select - made up of accommodation providers, attractions, tourism businesses and local authorities - aims to increase the number of visitors to the town.
A project co-ordinator will work on the ground with local businesses to provide joint marketing opportunities and business advice, helping operators to develop and promote speciality breaks and to target specific markets.
"There is a lot of interest being shown from accommodation providers and tourism businesses in Morecambe and I am delighted with the response so far," said project co-ordinator Debbie Chinn.
"It is wonderful to see operators willing to work together in small groups to target new markets, share ideas and increase the number of visitors to the area."
A series of winter workshops is due to start next month and a marketing presentation aimed at attracting bird-watchers to the area is being held at Leighton Moss on Wednesday, January 24.
Anyone interested in joining Morecambe Bay Select, or for more information, call Ms Chinn on 01253-470200.
