CONCERN about plans to re-franchise the North West rail network have prompted Lancashire county councillors to seek a meeting with rail bosses.
The shadow Strategic Rail Authority wants to create two new franchises covering local train services in the North of England, which includes the Manchester Airport to Barrow/Windermere route.
But a new map produced by the sSRA, showing which routes will be covered by the proposed franchise, has worried members of LCC's highways and transportation committee, who have requested a meeting with the sSRA so that the changes can be explained.
