CANNABIS bread is for sale at a bakery in Kendal - but it's all perfectly legal.
The bread, which is on sale at the Life Bakery, Finkle Street, contains roasted hemp and is already becoming one of the shop's best sellers.
Baker Simon Thomas told the Gazette: "Being made of only organic ingredients, the cannabis bread is a healthy option for anyone bored with the run-of-the-mill sliced loaf.
"As well as the hemp seeds, I have also added a splash of hemp oil so the bread is full of the goodness of the cannabis plant without containing any of the other properties."
Karin Robson, of Hazelwood, Kendal, who bought a loaf, said: "I was intrigued by the sign outside the bakery advertising the bread.
It tastes lovely, and I'm pleased that it's all organic and healthy."
Mr Thomas stressed: "I individually assure everyone who buys the bread that, although derived from the cannabis plant, the hemp extracts I use have none of the effects associated with the cannabis drug."
