AN 89-YEAR-OLD woman was the latest victim of burglars who have been preying on the elderly in Dalton.

Some £320 cash was stolen from a bureau in her living room after thieves got in through an insecure front door on Friday morning.

The woman, who lived in Prince Street, had earlier had a suspicious caller.

Police described him as a white male in his late 30s with dark hair, 5ft 8in tall, clean shaven and wearing a dark mac.

Sgt Doug Marshall, of Barrow police, said: "These burglaries are either committed by one person or a team of people.

We are linking this one to the other burglaries of that sort."
