YOUNG skateboard enthusiasts are to pack shopping bags to raise money for more skate park equipment.
Kendal's Asda supermarket has agreed in principle to let skateboarders 'bag pack', provided they become a properly constituted group with a bank account.
The young people have received support and help from South Lakeland District Council recreation officers and Cumbria Youth Service in their efforts to raise funds.
Money raised would buy more equipment for the skate park at Beezon Fields, SLDC's leisure and amenities committee was told.
Meanwhile, young people in Kendal have expressed concern that Beezon Fields is not an ideal site, explained Jim Walker, cultural and tourism services manager.
It often floods, and council officers are looking out for a better site.
