668 Archbishop Theadore divides the diocese and creates Orton Parish.
1154 Gamel de Pennington becomes first Lord of the Orton Manor.
C13th Orton Church built.
1504 Tower added to church.
1637 First bells in church.
1655 Oliver Cromwell grants Market Charter.
1662 Orton Hall built.
1723 Randall Ford and Son found guilty of 'coining' in Orton.
Executed at Appleby.
1730 Orton school built by private subscription.
1757 First stage coach completes journey to/from London.
1785 Parish agrees to meet cost of grave digging for those unable to pay (1-6).
1791 Last bull baiting in the village.
1837 Village Sunday School opens to mark Silver Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
1865 Orton Market Hall built by public subscription.
1877 Restoration of village church, foundations of original building discovered.
1897 Lord Mayor of London, Sir James Whitehead, donates stained glass window in church in memory of his parents, residents of the village.
1917 Church bells recast.
1963 Village School moves to new premises.
2000 Orton Farmers Market starts.
