SIR Kenneth Morrison, chairman of Morrisons supermarket, was named Yorkshire Executive of the Year at the Variety Club of Great Britain Yorkshire Business Awards.
He was recognised for his hands-on management style and no-nonsense approach to retailing.
Morrisons has grown from a Bradford market stall into the country's sixth largest supermarket chain with 110 stores - including Kendal - and 40,000 employees.
