THE Ramblers Association has produced a leaflet explaining the new Countryside and Rights of Way Act.
The bill, known as the CROW Act, creates a new legal right of access on foot to around four million acres of open, uncultivated countryside.
But although it is now on the statute book, walkers will not be able to enjoy the new rights until access land - mountain, moor, heath, down and common land - has been mapped.
This process is expected to take three to four years.
The free leaflet outlines how the new access will work and how access land will be identified.
