I LIKE catering exhibitions because there's always something to taste, and I love live cookery demonstrations because chefs always share some really useful tips.
So you'll understand why I was in my element at the first Premier English Lake District Catering Exhibition, held at the Low Wood Hotel, overlooking Windermere.
Organised by Morecambe-based Althams Catering Butchers, the event attracted more than 20 exhibitors and hundreds of trade visitors over the two-day event.
As well as lots of giveaway nibbles, the exhibition was made extra special by a series of demonstrations featuring, among others, Ian Dutton of The Dutton Arms at Holme, Lee Braithwaite from The Westmorland Hotel at Tebay, and Acorn Bank and radio chef John Crouch.
The event was opened by 'Mr Lake District', Gianni Berton, who was accompanied by his wife Judy.
Many of the exhibitors had taken part in catering exhibitions at Kendal Leisure Centre but said they were delighted to be back at the Low Wood Hotel which has previously hosted similar events.
"People prefer to be at the Low Wood and we couldn't be more pleased," said Bill Slater, of Althams.
"Exhibitors are already wanting to book for next year."
