SOUTH African Test player Pieter Strydom, who was appointed Netherfield's new professional last November, has been skippering Border in State games and he returned an eye-catching 6-23 with his slow left-armers recently.,
Strydom, 31, better known as a batsman, played in the three Millennium Tests against England last year and has played 10 times in all for his country and has a top Test score of 34.
Previous professional Jeff Vaughan showed his time at Parkside has sharpened his appetite for run-making as he posted a series of big scores with 150, 131, 100 and four half-centuries since his return to play for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield.
First and Second XI captains Jimmy Moyes and Mike Dugdale were re-elected at the club's annual meeting and nets started at Dallam School (9pm) this Thursday with new players welcome to attend.
