HELM Hill's Billy Procter won the second event in the 15-race Winter League series by repeating his success of last year at Hoad Hill, Ulverston.
Procter led from start to finish and had established a healthy lead on the chasing pack through the fields at the back of Hoad monument.
His team-mate Colin Valentine emerged as his main threat and just five seconds separated the pair at the finish.
Kendal's Shaun Addison was third holding off the strong challenge from Settle's Anthony Shepherd who appeared to relish the slippy underfoot conditions.
Due to a layer of snow on the course times were generally down on last year with Procter finishing 28 seconds behind the time he set last year.
Kendal brother and sister, Mark and Jenny Addison, enjoyed success in the junior races.
Mark, a pupil at Queen Katherine School, won the under 14 boys race and Jenny, who attends St Thomas's Primary School, triumphing in the girls under 12s.
Ben Davies won the boys under-12s race, beating Ben Rodgers by a nine second margin.
Windermere's Andrew Wilkin won the boys under 17 race from Alec Berry while Sheryl Slater, who led the junior race out onto Hoad Hill, was victorious in the girls under 17 event.
