THE Mayor of Rinteln - Kendal's twin town - is to unveil a mural celebrating the friendship between Kendal and its German twin town later this year.
The mural by ceramic artist Maggie Berkowitz is to be put up in Elephant Yard shopping mall, opposite the Costa coffee shop.
Rinteln's mayor Karl-Heinz Buchholz will officially unveil the artwork on Bank Holiday Monday, May 28, to coincide with the Kendal Medieval Market festivities.
Kendal-Rinteln Assocation chairman Jim Quincey said the mural depicted sport, music and other activities shared by the twin towns.
It would also feature German and English text.
The mural fund is still £200 short, and anybody who would like to contribute is invited to contact Mr Quincey on 01539-722088.
l The next meeting of the Kendal-Rinteln Assocation is to take place at Stricklandgate Methodist Church, Kendal, on February 13, at 7.45pm.
Everybody is welcome to attend and find out more about links between Kendal and its German twin town.
