LANCASHIRE fire-fighters who flew out to earthquake-hit India to join the international relief effort have rescued several survivors from the rubble.
A team of 11 - including fire-fighter John McKie, of Lancaster fire station - flew out from RAF Brize Norton on Saturday morning to help search for survivors among wreckage at Bhuj, the epicentre of the 'quake.
Most members of the team were involved in rescue efforts following the two Turkish earthquakes of 1999.
They are expected to stay in India for a week.
